Blues & Rockin' Grooves

Jay Scheffler: Vocals, Guitars
Jay has been performing and recording in various bands and as a solo artist for twenty years. Now Jay is continuing this run as lead vocalist for Hoodoo Revelator. Previous to playing with Hoodoo Revelator, Jay played with The Burning Seeds, Guaranteed Katch, The Electric Sinners, and The Cyclones. His soulful and growling vocals, as well as his intuitive guitar style, completed the sound of the band and has helped cement the band's direction. Before joining Hoodoo Revelator, Jay played everything from delicate, finger-picking style acoustic blues to ear-crunching punk. He originally started out with electric blues and now has come full circle with Hoodoo Revelator. Some of his influences include Louis Armstrong, John Lee Hooker, Django Reinhardt, Robert Johnson, and Howlin' Wolf.

Jim Chilson: Guitars
Before Hoodoo Revelator, Jim was playing in the New England Blues Circuit with his band of 6 years, Shaky Deal. Previous to that has played with such bands such as Pequot Munroe and 5 PM. His high intensity guitar playing and stinging solo leads are drawn right from the true originators of the Chicago and Texas style Blues, and he also helps lay the groove to give the band that signature driving Chicago style. His musical influences cover the gamut of blues but most noticeably Howlin' Wolf, Albert King, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, and BB King. He has appeared on stage with George McCann (Blue Hornets), Pete Henderson (Fatwall Jack), and Neil Virtullo (Young Neil and The Vipers), just to name a few.
Jeff Fabrizio: Bass
Jeff began playing guitar at the age of eleven after hearing such greats as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, and Keith Richards. He studied music theory and then took a brief hiatus from music, only to return in his mid twenties as a bass player. Following a brief stint with the classic rock band Simplicity, he joined Hoodoo Revelator at its inception and since then has laid down the steady, in-the-pocket bass lines that have become essential to the band's sound. Some of Jeff's musical influences include the Rolling Stones, Cream, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Tommy Shannon, Jack Bruce and Noel Redding.
Marty Phillips: Saxophone
Marty plays saxophone for Hoodoo Revelator but after playing countless gigs in the New England club scene with his good friend Johnnie Walker, he cannot recall his past.
Dave Darling: Drums
Dave's style of drumming has been influenced by such masters as Buddy Rich and Neal Peart. Along with guitar, he began drumming at the early age of eight and has become one of the area's most talented percussionists. In his late teens he played drums with the Top 40 band, 4 to 1, but soon realized that the Blues was more to his liking. He was immediately attracted to the deep down Chicago Blues sound that Buddy Guy had been playing for years. Dave took his talents over to the drummer position in Shaky Deal in the early 2000 and since then, he and Jim Chilson have taken their gritty blues sounds to Hoodoo Revelator.
